
Digital Radio Project Update

As of May 23rd 35 community radio stations across Australia are now broadcasting on DIGITAL;
Perth (6) 6NME, 6RPH, 6RTR, 6NR, 6SEN, 6EBA
Adelaide (6) 5UV, 5RPH, 5EBI, 5RAM, 5DDD & 5FBI
Brisbane (6) 4EB, 4FRB, 4ZZZ, 4MBS, 4BI, 4AAA
Melbourne (9) 3RRR, 3TSC, 3MBS, 3ZZZ, 3CR, 3RPH, 3PBS, 3SYN & 3KND
Sydney (8) 2CBA, 2MBS, 2OOO, 2SER, 2RPH, 2FBI, 2MFM, 2LND
There are now 35 digital community radio services on air. The CBAA Radio Project team are looking forward to continuing to work with stations towards further development of the systems and services currently in place.
Launch Events:
The national launch event was held on the 13th of May at the performance space at 3RRR in Melbourne. Senator the Hon. Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy formally launched the services accompanied by Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s President, Adrian Basso, and General Manager, Kath Letch. Well-known community elder, Aunty Joy conducted the Welcome to Country and entertainment was provided by the Melbourne band, The Tiger and Me.

Brisbane stations held launch events on Saturday the 14th of May. 4EB launched its ‘Global’ service with 10-minute segments in different languages throughout the day, 4ZZZ held a rummage sale and cake stall; ZEDDigital and 4MBS launched with Andre Rieu top 100 countdown.
Sydney stations will hold events 24th of May. The 8 stations will celebrate the launch at The Pavilion with the NSW Governor, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, officially overseeing proceedings.
