After five decades of oppression and the loss of countless innocent lives the sun has finally risen over the skies of the South of Sudan with the announcement on the 9th July 2011 that the world's newest nation, the Republic of South Sudan (ROSS) has been born.
Celebrations world wide were held to mark this joyous occasion.
Here on World Radio 6EBA-FM our Sudanese Broadcast team celebrated with an extended one and a half show.
Alex Lukare, Producer and Coordinator of the program says:
With us in the studio today we have the Acting President of the South Sudan Community Association of WA Mrs Sang and the Secretary Mr Yihhon Alleu. We are discussing about the up coming South Sudanese Independence celebration which will take place on Saturday the 09 July 2011 at the Herb Graham Recreation and Fitness Centre in Mirabooka. We expect over 1000 people will attend the celebration of this long awaited day. We thank our Station Manager for granting us additional airtime today until 11:30am due to listener demand which has enabled us to have more and extensive interviews. We thank 6EBA for the great support they have given to our Sudanese community over the years, and we hope to continue presenting our program to the Sudanese community for years to come.
With me in the studio today presenting were Emmanuel Lopit and Taban Zico. Together with our listeners and the talk back we had a fantastic show. Thanks to everyone who participated.
